Codes medical records and inputs abstracted record data into hospital computer system on a timely basis and according to established standards and practices.
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA (or eligible) and/or working knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9-CM coding systems.
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P and/or CCA.
Working knowledge of medical anatomy and physiology.
3-5 years recent coding experience in an acute care hospital setting.
1-2 years recent coding experience in an acute care hospital or successful completion of the coding curriculum in an approved RHIA/RHIT program.
Answer telephones; input data into computer programs; maintain logs; research information.
Machines: computer terminal, photocopier, document scanner.
