Under general direction, performs and reports diverse and complex clinical laboratory tests and procedures in one or more sections or locations of the laboratory. Demonstrates advanced decision making skills involving complicated, and more labor intensive laboratory tests and test interpretation. Performs complicated laboratory testing such as fluorescent serology, electrophoresis, Transfusion Services, and advanced microbiology. Maintains quality control procedures, calibrates instrumentation, and produces clinically accurate and relevant patient results. Performs specimen collection as needed. Assumes responsibilities as assigned in absence of laboratory management.
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related science discipline.
Experience: Completion of an accredited clinical internship or equivalent experience/training as required by the Board of Registry for certification.
Licensure: Certified MT(ASCP), CLS(ASCP), CLS(NCA), CLT(CSLT), MLT(CSMLS), AMT, HEW or equivalent certification. Registry eligible with registry within 2 years.
