The Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, Alpha-1 unit is searching for a qualified applicant. The individual must have a current license in the state of Florida as a licensed Medical Technologist or Medical Licensed Technician. The individual is expected to receive, process, and test blood and tissue samples received into the clinical laboratory. Individual will test sponsored clinical study samples in addition to regular clinical testing. Individual will supervise training of junior lab technician staff, overseeing laboratory processes. Individual will be expected to become familiar with all database entry procedures, screens and workflow. Individual will assist in efforts to make improvements and corrections to database processes. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining all documentation related to clinical testing services and proficiency testing under CLIA and Good Laboratory Practices ( GLP ) guidelines. This includes record keeping of all experiments and inventory cataloging of lab supplies, equipment monitoring, as well as reviewing quality control procedures and creating/updating laboratory procedures (SOP’s). Individual will be responsible for the preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment as required. Individual must have good communication skills and be able to work well with colleagues, representatives of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and be able to seek information as needed when future experiments require special abilities or experience found only outside of the university. Individual will also assist in the receipt, data entry, processing, and storage of tissues received into the DNA and Tissue Bank.
Licensed or temporarily licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated and for which the laboratory is licensed under Chapter 483, Florida Statutes
