Medical language specialist who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other health care professionals regarding patient assessment, work-up, therapeutic procedures, diagnostic reports, etc. in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of health care services using central transcription equipment and personal computers.
Qualifications
Graduate of a medical secretarial school or completion of an approved vocational training program for medical transcriptionists.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility.
Minimum of one year transcription or similar experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation and style.
Ability to understand diverse accents, dialects and varying dictation styles.
Ability to use designated reference material.
Ability to operate designated word processing, dictation and transcription equipment and other equipment as specified.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
