The Medicare Broker Executive, Government Programs, Medicare, provides direction and manages assigned External Agents for the sale and retention of all AHNJ Individual Medicare products. Develops new methods to increase sales and enhance AHNJ’s Medicare reputation, compliance, impact, and importance with Medicare beneficiaries and assigned FMO’s, General Agents, and Individual Agents. Works closely with FMO counterpart(s) to align selling strategies, monitor Agent activities, and ensure Agents act according to all CMS, State, and IBC FOC policies & procedures. Ensures optimal External Agent effectiveness through coaching, instruction, and monitoring of sales and retention initiatives. Makes and implements recommendations for improvement. This position reports to the Director, Medicare Sales. Duties and Responsibilities • Serves as Compliance oversight of External Agent activity. Prevents, detects, and resolves the instances of conduct that do not conform to federal (CMS) and state law, and federal and state health care program requirements, as well as the ethical and business policies of the organization. Makes sure CMS regulations are followed and enforced. Develops corrective action plans for performance and process management improvement within the context of 100% compliance. • Responsible for development, execution and evaluation of External Agent performance to include compliance, goals, strategic initiatives, annual sales plan, activity management, and the measurement of results. • Develops action plans and strategies to optimize sales potential and ensure that each Agent understands and meets AH sales and compliance goals and initiatives. • Responsible for the development and implementation of processes to manage and track agent resources, productivity, and quality. • Acts as AHNJ’s representative with FMO counterpart(s) to ensure a clear alignment of strategic goals and sales tactics between the two organizations. • Responsible for Agents’ thorough understanding of the AHNJ Medicare product portfolio and each product’s benefits and relevance to meeting the needs of beneficiaries. • Ensures that all appointed Agents have access to IBCFOC- and CMS-approved selling materials and that Agents thoroughly understand the CMS Marketing Guidelines. • Ensures that Agents’ selling methods conform to IBCFOC’s brand-directed approach to consultative selling and always support the optimal matching of AH products to the needs of beneficiaries.
The qualified candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in a sales/broker environment preferably within a health or managed care organization with an emphasis on Medicare. Previous experience managing and motivating a staff to high levels of productivity required. Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented, as well as above average problem solving, analytical and verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to manage projects and Agent expectations to a successful conclusion is essential. Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels is required. The ability to achieve results in an environment where direct control of resources needed to accomplish assigned tasks is not the norm. Must have working knowledge of government regulations that affect the IBC compliance plan. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and functional specific software required. A Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience and an active PA license in Health and Accident insurance is required for this role.
