The Medicare Sales Representative shall be responsible for continuously identifying, contacting, following up with and enrolling prospects in the WNY market and meeting monthly and annual sales goals. He/She must is responsible for the retention and engagement of Independent Health members. The Medicare Sales Representative shall be responsible for developing and maintaining assigned territory by implementing sales strategies and meeting established sales goals. He/she must develop strategies to build positive relationships with key organizations and contacts, both new and existing, in the community to assist in growth of membership throughout the year. In addition, the Medicare Sales Representative is accountable for meeting monthly sales activity and productivity goals aligned with departmental projections and corporate scorecard. He/She must fully utilize systems such as Salesforce.com to maintain extensive records of prospects and activities. The Medicare Sales Representative will assist the Sales Manager and Director as needed. A flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and CMS mandated holidays is a condition of employment.
Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college strongly desired. Experience/education in lieu of college degree will be considered.
Minimum 4 years proven sales experience required. Ability to gather information, determine needs and provide solutions.
Experience in maintaining a book of business, represent Independent Health in the community with professional relationships, and ability to track all sales leads in order to meet/exceed sales goals.
Knowledge of managed care within the Medicare line of business preferred. Mandated adherence to CMS compliance requirements and regulations. Knowledge of CMS guidelines a plus.
Exhibits initiative, creativity and self-motivation with excellent organizational and time management skills, required.
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities and manage time effectively in a fast paced environment.
Public speaking experience required. Experience conducting presentations to groups of people and various audiences. Demonstrated ability to interact one-on-one to assess prospective cutomer’s needs and close the sale.
Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with community contacts and internal teams and departments.
Proven verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally via the telephone as well as in person.
Effectively communicate on a verbal and written basis with members, all levels of management and community contacts. Ability to display excellent listening skills and compassion towards member’s individual situations
Strong PC skills required including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to learn and utilize contact management systems such as Salesforce.com in an effective and efficient manner to document all activity.
Local and travel throughout the area required. Any Independent Health associate who uses a motor vehicle in the course of their duties representing Independent Health must be compliant with New York State Motor Vehicle laws and must follow the policy that pertains to Driver’s License Requirements as a condition of employment.
Understands the importance of maintaining the physical and technical security and privacy of protected health information (PHI). Must assume responsibility and maintain confidentiality.
It is a condition of employment that the applicant shall have the license required to sell health insurance in the state of New York at the time of employment.
Other duties as required. Every associate is given a job description upon hire outlining the qualifications, duties, and pay grade of the position. Independent Health reserves the right to change job descriptions as necessary. Associates will be given notification of such changes as they occur.
