Member Services Representative

Reports To: Branch Assistant Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Primary Purpose: To refer or assist members and prospective members with transactions, services and products on accounts in a responsive and professional manner. Deliver quality service to members, coworkers and/or external customers.

Essential Functions

Provide information, answer questions and assist members and prospective members in a responsive and professional manner. Perform account transactions and queries daily as requested by membership. Provide information and troubleshooting support for Online Banking and Bill Pay.

Service member accounts through data entry, member and account file maintenance and documentation as needed. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all documentation produced.

Perform duties of vault teller as required.

Perform additional duties as assigned and work in other departments and branches as required.

Obtain current license and bond as a Notary Public to provide notary services for members as required by management.

Proactively refer members and prospective members to Personal Financial Representatives by marketing all Credit Union products and services as opportunities are identified.

Provide quality service to members and potential members as outlined in the Service Standards Document.

Support and assist Personal Financial Representatives with interviewing and establishing new membership, subsidiary accounts, and product and service delivery.

Demonstrate use of skills learned in Sales Strategies, Referral or Core Program.

Generate individual teller totals from core system and balance checks and cash drawer daily, including money orders, cashier’s checks and travelers cheques.

Complete all education, training and professional development required for position.

Demonstrate product knowledge and meet annual product and service certification requirements.

Comply with all state and federal regulations and compliance standards, including: Identify Theft Protection Plan (ITPP), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Information Privacy (CIP), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as well as Credit Union policies and procedures. Complete required compliance training.

Ensure required records are retained in accordance with the Salal Records Retention Program and preserved in a careful and secure manner.

Use network PC workstation to access core system software to perform account transactions, queries, and specialized functions for accounts as needed. Utilize all Internet service delivery systems and Microsoft Office Suite to perform duties as needed. Operate and maintain department equipment and troubleshoot as needed.

Perform additional duties as assigned and work in other departments and branches as required.

Position Qualifications

Previous Experience: Performed successfully in a cash handling or service position for a minimum of one year.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Demonstrated Abilities: Express thoughts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Interact positively with co-workers, management and the public. Market products and services in a manner that is responsive and professional. Establish a rapport with the public while at the same time maintaining accuracy of work produced. Produce work in a timely manner, which is accurate and complete. Listen to cues and ask proactive questions to select appropriate product or service to sell or refer. Assist the public in research and analysis of products and services. Working knowledge of account documentation and file maintenance.

Physical Requirements: Sitting or standing continuously for periods of four hours, communicating verbally, communicating in writing, faculty of seeing and hearing and operating a keyboard. Lifting and carrying usually not to exceed 20 pounds.

Mental Requirements: Interpersonal interactions, problem solving, analyzing/evaluating, decision making, discretion/confidentiality, math skills, teamwork, read/write/speak English, creativity and task handling.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment but also requires mobility within the office. Must be able to report to work during inclement weather conditions. May be required to travel to other Credit Union facilities and various locations for job related training, meetings and events.
