This position is time-limited, grant funded, full time.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of: criminal justice system; public and private organizations and community resources; alternative treatment and/or placement facilities both in and outside of North Carolina; and funding sources for alternative treatment and/or placement facilities.
Ability to: meet high demands and deadlines often associated with advocating for the rights of consumers within the criminal justice system; ability to develop and conduct educational seminars; and work both independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Skills: excellent written and verbal communication skills; and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and CSW license from the NC Social Work Certification and Licensure Board (NCSWCLB); or a Master's degree from an accredited school and CMSW or LCSW certification from the NCSWCLB or reciprocal governing board. Certification as an LPC or LPCS from the NC Board of Licensed Professional Counselors may also be considered.
Management prefers candidates with experience in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, intellectual developmental disabilities, homeless services, Veterans' Administration, adolescent services, housing, benefits, and overall needs of the indigent population. Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC, LCAS, CCJP) also a plus.
