Sheppard Pratt Health System is a private, non-profit behavioral health organization that provides a full range of services in a variety of settings to meet the needs of children, adolescents, adults and older adults.

The Adolescent Inpatient Services Unit aims at being a short-term stabilization program that provides acute psychiatric care for patients age 12 to 17. The overall goal of treatment is rapid assessment and stabilization to assist patients and their families so that the patients can return safely to the community. Care is directed by a multi-disciplinary team, led by the psychiatrist, including social workers, nurses, recreational and art therapists, and mental health workers. The average length of stay is 4-7 days. A discharge planner will work with the patient and their families to plan follow-up care that is tailored to the individual’s needs.

The Mental Health Worker, under close supervision of the Staff Nurse, participates in the planning and evaluation of patient needs based on patient behaviors. Provides direct patient care services in accordance with the treatment plan and under the direction of a professional nurse. Assists in providing a safe and therapeutic environment according to established policies and procedures.

HS Diploma or GED required. Past Mental Health Worker experience strongly preferred.

Hourly rate is between $11-$13.20 depending on experience and education.
**Must be able to complete required seven day initial orientation, Thursday, Friday and the following Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm.
