General Purpose

A Merchandise Manager is responsible for providing consistent leadership and managing all processes of store merchandising to maximize store sales and profits. In addition, the Merchandise Manager will provide merchandising training. This position requires a high level of communication, efficiency, and organization.

Job Duties

Sets the example in identifying and responding promptly to Guests needs. §
Ensures and holds team accountable in providing a consistent and fulfilling Guest experience.

Partners with Store Team Leader to Recruit, Hire, Train and Develop a strong store team to provide an inviting, enjoyable, and fulfilling shopping experience to all Guests. §
Holds self and others accountable to maintaining all Kirkland’s policies, procedures, and merchandise standards. §
Provides performance feedback on a consistent and timely basis. §
Recognizes and celebrates performance that meets and exceeds company
standards. §
Promotes a fun, caring, safe, and productive work environment. §
Creates an open and professional environment of exchanging information. §
Communicates clearly and effectively both verbally and in written format and maintains the company’s confidentiality practices.

Utilizes store reporting to assess the store’s business goals, customer base, traffic patterns, and productivity of merchandise to strengthen the store’s business. §
Ensures Company standards are consistently met for all areas of freight processing, included but not limited to planning, team productivity, and paperwork. §
Effectively executes promotional and merchandising plans while maintaining presentation standards as directed by the company. §
Ensures Company standards are consistently met for all areas of visual presentation including signage, fixtures, and merchandising. §
Maintains merchandise pricing and the accuracy of inventory levels. §
Protect and maintain company assets and resources to include, but not limited to, cash control, inventory, product handling and physical facility to prevent theft .

Physical Requirements §

Ability to lift and move 45 pounds or more on a regular basis. §
Ability to climb ladders. §
Ability to stoop, bend, climb and lift to stock and retrieve merchandise from stockroom and sales floor on a regular basis.

Essential Qualifications §

High School diploma or some college preferred. §
2-5 years equivalent management experience – retail preferred. §
Possess creative visual merchandising skills. §
Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. §
High skill level in motivating, leading, and influencing others §
Ability to problem solve and develop creative solutions. §
Ability to build relationships and motivate teams. §
Ability to communicate effectively to individuals at all position levels. §
Posses strong analytical skills. §
Knowledge of the Home Décor Industry. §
Ability to read and interpret company directives, handbook, and manuals. §
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. §
Ability to attend and participate in meetings as required. §
Ability to work a minimum of 42 hours per week, based upon the business needs of the store. §
Ability to work before/after store hours, holidays, and weekends. §
Ability to travel as required.
