The Planner supports the Merchandise Planning team by creating and managing CC level sales and inventory plans from pre-season investment thru liquidation. The Planner is responsible for planning inventory and sales expectations to support Merchandising strategies ensuring opportunity is maximized and financial plans are achieved.

Essential Responsibilities

Contributes to the financial success of one or more departments by managing sales, gross margin, GMROI and inventory turn goals to meet or exceed financial objectives

Develops CC level plans that support departmental strategies and sales goals

Develops pre-season style plans and recommends investment quantities

Manage inventory from investment planning thru liquidation

Drive sales and margin performance thru effective promotional activity

Monitor and evaluate in-season sales and inventory forecasts, to ensure effective and profitable management of inventory

Supports Merchandising initiatives with thoughtful APS and inventory plans

Lead monthly basics meetings by developing and communicating an in season strategy for managing inventory based on trend

Develops and recommends pricing strategies at style level to maximize sales and margin opportunity

Ability to proactively identify business opportunities and communicate appropriately

Ability to measure results and translate finding to influence future business decisions


2-3 years work experience. Specialty retail experience preferred.

  • Ability to think objectively and draw conclusions from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to evaluate business trends and draw actionable conclusions to maximize opportunity
  • Proficiency in retail math
  • Ability to use rigorous logic and thoughtful thinking to effectively identify, address and resolve challenges
  • Set priorities and clear objectives to ensure that the team goals and objectives are meet and/or exceeded
  • Ability to identify and communicate the opportunity to improve process and advance thinking
  • Anticipate risks and develop plans and processes to reduce exposure
  • Demonstrates the ability to be innovative in arriving at new and untried solution to problems

  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
