The Metrology Process Engineer will own the development of procedures and standardization for all GE Transportation Metrology processes. In this role you will solicit input from product design engineering drawings and requirements, operators, Quality Engineering, equipment suppliers, and other functions to develop process instructions and documentation, process control measures, training plans, process capability, and capacity improvements.
In addition you will:
Define and document Metrology processes, standards, and methods and integrate them into the manufacturing supply chain (internal production and external suppliers, as needed)
Set up auditing plan to ensure compliance to the processes and standards that are developed
ID and implement new world class measuring technologies
Lead and/or support cost trade-off decisions on application of measurement equipment, including; Assessment of impact on product labor cost, product reliability, and overall product life cycle cost
Lead projects yielding significant improvements in compliance to product specifications
Work with Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Quality to optimize maintenance plans for measurement equipment and calibration intervals
Develop and implement Metrology training for new hires and periodic refresher training packages for current employees
Ensure CMM programming incorporates best practices and application of GD&T and work with Engineering to rectify drawing ambiguity as it pertains to measurement techniques
Build and sustain system of periodic Gage R&Rs for measurement system across Transportation
Assist in the development of Characteristic Control Plans (CCPs), as well as statistical sampling plans
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 5 years of Metrology experience
Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Ability to program CMMs using PC-DMIS
Ability to use and program portable CMMs, such as Romer and Faro arms
Experience performing Gage R&Rs
Ability to deliver training on shop floor and/or classroom setting
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quality or Process Improvement position
Prior experience in machine shop operations
Prior experience leading multi-plant initiatives
Exemplary ability to read engineering drawings and specifications, and comprehend the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Strong mechanical aptitude
Ability to use engineering CAD packages such as Pro-E and Unigraphics
History of demonstrated performance in executing manufacturing process improvements
Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
Prior exposure to an organized labor environment
Prior exposure to a piecework environment
Prior exposure to a job shop environment
Strong project management skills
Strong manufacturing process knowledge
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
