Manage the accounts payable dispute resolution and accounting process. Work with vendors and internal departments to ensure that payment disputes are resolved and invoices are authorized, processed and posted to the general ledger properly and timely. Minimize or eliminate lost terms’ discounts by effectively communicating with vendors, corporate support staff regarding invoice payment. Design, develop, analyze and test various financial systems and reports that focus on assisting management in understanding merchandise and expense payable liabilities. Ensure that all Sarbanes-Oxley and financial audit requirements are satisfied. Minimize and or eliminate operational risks to the business at all times. Function as a member of the core finance management team, assisting senior financial management with strategic/operational planning initiatives to support future business growth. Manage the operational direction from a procedural perspective. Develop and recommend new procedures, processes and policies for the accounts payable function. Serve as the Merchandise Payable accounting knowledge source for the organization.

Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
Effectively accomplish assigned duties/tasks through work of subordinates
Directly supervises Accounts Payable Supervisor(s) including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, assignment delegation and follow through, performance evaluation and disciplinary action and termination when necessary. Indirectly supervises Coordinator(s), Processor(s) and other Accounts Payable staff and temporary employees.
The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards.
The minimum educational background is a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. In addition, a qualified applicant will have a minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable, including a minimum of 3 year supervisory or management experience in a large scale, high volume accounting department.
In addition, a qualified applicant will have a minimum three years of "hands on" experience with a computerized Accounts Payable and General Ledger system in a high-volume environment. Qualified candidates must have strong experience in developing and implementing work process improvements including processes, procedures and policies. Must have well demonstrated successful experience in leading month and year end accounts payable closing.
