, is hiring a Manager of Professional Development and Training for our highly collaborative, widely-regarded Professional Development and Training team. You will work with our Director of Professional Development and our Director of Training to design and implement innovative programs and approaches to developing, training and engaging our Attorneys. To be successful you will need to use your finely honed talent and project management, facilitation, coaching, organizational development, adult learning skills and experience to build and enhance our professional development and training program. You must think like a change agent, be intuitive and be capable of taking initiative. You will need to build a broad set of relationships at all levels of our firm in order to help us broadly integrate our approaches. Topics may include building legal, professional and leadership skills, how to enhance client service and project management, feedback, mentoring, coaching, integration, diversity and inclusion and engagement.

You will focus on:
  • Enhancing existing core firm-wide training programs as well as designing, developing and delivering new training programs.
  • Improving associate engagement through data-gathering and analysis, coaching, communication and collaboration with other departments, associates, partners and firm leaders.
  • Developing and analyzing metrics used to measure the effectiveness of the PD&T team programs and approaches.
  • Improving associate feedback and providing upward feedback to partners.
  • Supporting and advancing the mission of the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Working to improve the PD&T’s communications and intranet presence as well as help attorneys to better understand how best to leverage the team’s expertise, programs and materials.
To be successful you must have:
  • A legal background in litigation or business practices.
  • A strong background in training, coaching and/or organizational development, a coaching certificate is highly desirable.
  • A solid understanding of adult learning concepts and, if possible, related technologies.
  • Outstanding platform and facilitation skills with a clear, concise and straightforward delivery style.
  • A desire and ability to coach, mentor and influence others.
  • A collaborative approach to problem solving and work.
  • The ability to project manage and lead teams.
You will need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a Juris Doctorate.
  • 4 years of legal practice in a large law firm and/or 2-3 years of professional development and training experience at a major professional services firm, either at a manager level or in a committee support capacity.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, coaching and communication skills, as well as the ability to listen well.
  • Strong initiative-taking and project management skills, and the demonstrated ability to effectively manage people and multiple complex projects at the same time.
  • Outstanding diplomatic and creative problem solving skills, superior judgment, and the ability to protect and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
