Job Description: Microbal Applications Manager
Position Objective and Overview of Role: The Microbial Applications Manager -Scientist will interface with the relevant market directors to bring new or improved cell nutrition products to the cell nutrition portfolio. This will be achieved through microbiological application methodology and cross-functional development of innovative culture media systems. The candidate will lead and participate on proactive and reactive cell nutrition projects, support new product introductions and process changes, lead and participate on interdepartmental teams, and be a technical resource for the business getting organization.
The candidate will attend and/or participate in trade shows and conferences.
Key Deliverables New business — resulting from completed Cell Nutrition projects Improvements — of yields, throughput, functionality, and efficiencies on existing products and processes
Qualifications / Experience: Qualifications: M.S. with 5+ years of experience or Ph.D with 3+ years of experience in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or other related fields. Microbiologist is preferred. Leadership experience is required.Commercial competency, effective as technical expert in front of customers.
Competent in microbial techniques, aseptic technique, culture maintenance & storage, experience in media making, media optimization, Bioreactor knowledge and familiarization with plant GMP.
Experience or exposure to pilot or production equipment/activities (fermentors, spray dryers, freeze dryers, centrifugation, filtration, pelletizing, evaporation, sterilization, pasteurization).
Competent knowledge in microbial cell metabolism and metabolites, cellular physiology, media optimisation, GRAS organisms and GMOs.
Molecular biology, protein biochemistry, genetic engineering techniques and knowledge of Biopharmaceutical industry.
Experience with a broad range of microorganisms, including starter culture strains preferred. Familiar with experimental design, standard laboratory data logging and reporting. Competencies (Critical Skills, Aptitudes & Personality)

Order laboratory supplies if necessary, make media, participate in routine lab maintenance and cleaning, lead pilot equipment maintenance/cleaning, engage in misc. site related initiatives and accept occasional off-hours/flexed time
Capable of learning Bioreactor operator software
