Scope of the Position - Closes July 15, 2014
Provide development and analytical testing for a variety of organisms and disease states. Provide scientific and technical advice on adoption of new methods and equipment. Coordinate and manage projects for Federal grants and special projects including providing timely progress updates for section manager and creation of required progress reports.
Perform Verifications/Validations of new methods and equipment including creating Verification and Validation protocols for approval by the section manager and laboratory director, performing or directing the performance of the required testing to provide the data, doing the statistical analysis and write-up for the manager and lab director's approval, and ensuring that all activities on the new methods checklist have been performed and are in readiness for the method or equipment to go on-line before go-live.
Write, adapt and update protocols for methods/instruments for the OSPHL in CLSI approved format in a timely manner. Assure procedures are consistent with OSPHL's Quality Assurance Plan, including proficiency testing, validation of methods, pre- and post-analytical measures, supervisory review, and adherence to any special requirements. Judge specimen adequacy and appropriate test(s) to perform on incoming samples.
Assist section manager with day-to-day operation and oversight of the section such as planning, assigning, and approving laboratory testing and scheduling to ensure continuity of workflow and accuracy of results, trouble-shooting problems, and other administrative duties (must qualify as a technical supervisor under CLIA).
