We are currently seeking a Microbiologist to join our team. This role works 8am-5pm, Monday thru Friday with occasional Saturdays.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Execute microbiology and chemistry tests on raw materials, water sources, in-process samples, environmental samples, and finished products in accordance with corporate requirements
Record microbiology and chemistry results, interpret data, and formulate action plans to establish corrective and preventive measures
Communicate and interpret microbiology and chemistry results effectively to all levels of the organization
Generate SOPs and work instructions for function-specific quality control tasks
Train employees in function-specific quality control tasks, standards, and responsibilities
Conduct and facilitate quality audits, including but not limited to FDA, ISO, Nestec, FSMS
Develop and monitor the efficacy of the factory cleaning and sanitation program
Lead the factory HACCP program, including employee training, facilitating equipment and process audits, documenting audits and team meetings, and implementing action plans
Develop the sensory program, including employee training, sensory panels, and interpretation of results
Manage the Internal Control Plan (ICP) and the equipment calibration program
Monitor factory GMPs and correct any substandard conditions
Maintain the factory hygiene and zoning programs
Manage the factory pest control program
Order and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and water processing supplies
Collaborate with the Planning Coordinator and raw material suppliers to optimize quality and reconcile DMRs in a timely manner
Evaluate and trend consumer complaints to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures
Support the QA department and plant operations as necessary to maintain high standards of quality
Key qualifications include:
Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related science or demonstrated equivalent experience in microbiology lab
Minimum 2 years experience in a lab environment
Experienced in standard analytical methods for microbiology, troubleshooting microbiological issues and experience with pathogens, molds and spoilage microorganisms desired
Prior experience performing internal quality audits and maintaining micro programs in an audit ready state
Understanding of microbiological testing and operation of related lab equipment
Ability to track and trend micro data and testing results
Knowledge of EPA and FDA regulations desired
Computer proficiency in SAP and standard Microsoft Office Software
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and lift at least 50 lbs
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach other team members
