Kimball Midwest, a national distributor of maintenance, repair and operation products, is searching for a Microsoft Systems Engineer in our IT Department for our Columbus, OH location. If you have some of these skills and the desire to grow professionally, we need to talk! We are looking for a qualified systems engineer experienced in implementation, administration and integration of enterprise solutions to join our team. Our team is primarily responsible for managing best-of-breed solutions and services to facilitate scalable operations. As a member of the team you will ensure that the systems are designed well, customized appropriately, and supported effectively.

Systems configuration, administration, maintenance, and synchronization of enterprise applications

Interface with departments to analyze the business requirements and translate them into effective solutions

Stay abreast of related technology and recommend future system enhancements, software purchases or system upgrades

Application of service packs & updates during maintenance windows

Troubleshoot issues outside of normal business hours

Work closely with Level 1 support and users to identify and resolve issues.


Required skills for this position:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field or commensurate experience.

Required Certification: Microsoft MCITP or MCDST or equivalent work experience with at least 5-6 years of the following disciplines (Windows Server 2008 configuration and support, Microsoft Exchange configuration and support, Microsoft Sharepoint configuration and support).

Demonstrated experience configuring and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2008.

Hands on experience supporting a Windows Network in a team environment, along with an excellent understanding of main stream Microsoft Windows Server products such as Windows Server 2008, Exchange 2010, SharePoint 2010, SCCM, SCOM, Active Directory and Microsoft IIS.

Excellent understanding and experience working with AD, DHCP and DNS

Experience with Data Backup solutions

Willingness to work weekends or after hours to provide escalated support on a as-needed basis

Preferred skills for this position:
Experience with Server Virtualization

Experience with network storage and security

Experience with E-Vault Exchange archiving

Strong background in networking (Cisco switches & routers, Firewalls, VPN, etc…)

Knowledge of Windows Server 2008, Windows Mobile-based handhelds, networking and security concepts

Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills

Superior oral and written communication skills

Excellent customer service skills

Natural leadership skills

Problem solving mentality

Team player
