General Description of Duties:

This position will be responsible for the coordination of the activities related to the services offered in Salud’s mobile unit including: scheduling, stocking material, assisting with the handling, storage and inventory of vaccines as well as quality assurance of laboratory equipment. Assures all patients seen in Mobile Unit get registered into Salud’s system. When needed the migrant outreach coordinator will perform medical assistant activities such as taking vitals, vaccination or drawing blood in the mobile unit. Adheres to the spirit of the SALUD mission statement while performing assigned duties

Specific Duties:

Provide on-site consultation and technical assistance to Salud’s staff in matters related to outreach and office procedures in direct relation to the Migrant Program.
Be an active resource to help and facilitate referrals to Salud Clinics to patients seen within Salud’s Migrant Program.
Manage scheduling and assist outreach team to find viable Mobile Unit locations.
Ensure that patients are fully informed and comfortable with their visit to Salud Mobile Unit.
Collects accurate and updated information at each patient visit.
Navigate patients in the registration process when obtaining services in Mobile Unit as well as serving as liaison between Mobile Unit and Salud Clinics.
Enroll patients seen in Mobile Unit into Salud’s system. Assisting patients filling the necessary forms as wells as entering the information into Salud’s system.
Assists in keeping inventory of vaccines as well as assure vaccines of the Migrant Program are viable.
Assure QA logs from laboratory are filled correctly and enter the information into public drive.
Perform Medical Screenings such as blood pressure, random blood sugar and hemoglobin as well as vaccination and blood drawing to patients served in Mobile Unit when needed.
Assists Medical Providers while performing procedures in Mobile Unit when necessary.
Helps in the orientation of Americorps Members and volunteers in Mobile Unit.
In cases when Mobile Unit driver is not available, the migrant outreach worker/patient service representative will drive Mobile Unit from designated parking to scheduled site.
When necessary assists with translation for patients.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Migrant Health Director.

Qualifications for Appointment:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with other Salud employees, the different health departments and other human service providers.
Maintain a cooperative relationship with the agricultural employers.
Serve as a resource person for the farm workers.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Sensitivity to low income and ethnic community a must.
Bilingual English/Spanish (required).
Knowledge of administrative, clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Basic understanding of medical terminology and medical procedures and be familiar with CPT ICDM and other coding systems.

High school diploma or GED.


At least two years working in a cross-cultural healthcare environment preferred.
