oDesk is looking for an Engineering Manager/Architect to build and lead a team of distributed mobile engineers. As a team, your mission is to build out the new oDesk Mobile Platform (iOs and Android). You will partner with the Product Manager and Designers to understand the business problems and identify solutions that can be broken up into small projects and delivered as rapid iterations. Depending on experience, this can be a position as a technical lead or manager of the team.This is an excellent career opportunity for a software engineer to take on more management responsibilities with a category leader.
Responsibilties:
Take the design and development ownership of the oDesk Mobile Platform (This is a greenfield project!)
Provide technical leadership to your globally distributed team.
Work closely with the product manager and other business stakeholders to ensure its success by identifying feasible solutions to the top business problems.
Understand the product requirements and translate them into design specifications.
Conduct design reviews and perform design trade-off analyses.
Contribute to architecture and design guidelines to enforce best practices.
Contribute to the definition of development processes and coding guidelines.
Requirements:
3-5 years hands-on mobile software development experience.
Strong understanding of object oriented programming concepts, algorithms, and design patterns, including MVC and delegate patterns.
Have served as a Technical Lead on several Mobile Development projects.
Experience with agile or iterative development with frequent releases in a SaaS environment.
Experience working with remote teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
