Performs duties related to the preparation and service of modified diets in accordance with department standards.
Duties: Responsible for the accurate preparation of modified diets at all meals in accordance with modified diet menus and patient preferences, when possible. Diet Aide instructs all modified diet clients on proper food choices. Responsible for the proper daily use, care and sanitation of work area, job-specific equipment and small wares used. Works in the dish-room and pot-room according to work schedule.
Desired Skills: Interpersonal skills, both verbal and listening, necessary to relate to clients, co-workers or other customers with courtesy and caring.
Physical ability to lift, push or pull up to 35 pounds and to work in a standing position for considerable lengths of time.
Visual ability to observe food preparation required.
Requirements: Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions (normally acquired through a high school education.
One year food service experience preferred to do the job effectively.
