CURRENT CNA LICENSE IS REQUIRED

MINIMUM OF FIVE (5) YEARS OF CNA EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

MONITOR TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY: Under moderate supervision, performs variety of patient care activities for patients assigned to Medical/Surgical Units.

Performs cardiac monitoring duties under the supervision of the registered nurse.

Performs remote cardiac monitoring duties under the supervision of the registered nurse.

~

Communicates relevant information appropriately.

~

Provides and Documents Patient Care

Practices Infection Control

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the position, the candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent required. One year experience as a CNA and current certification as a CNA in the state of Maryland preferred or National Paramedic Certification is preferred. (Consideration may be given to applicant with CNA license after one semester of Nursing Training.). Candidate must pass a basic arrhythmia exam or course and have the ability to recognize critical rhythms. On the Job training is acceptable for the newly trained Monitor Technician as determined by the Department Manager. The Monitor Technician, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, monitors the cardiac rhythms of telemetry patients.

SKILLS & ABILITIES: Medical terminology course preferred. Successful completion of Civista Medical Center's approved Monitor Technician's Course. BLS certified within 3 months of employment on this unit. ACLS certified within 1 year of employment on this unit. The ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patient and departmental documents is required. National Certification for Paramedics.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Certification as a CNA in the state of Maryland required. BLS certified within 3 months of employment on this unit. ACLS certified within 1 year of employment on this unit. National Paramedic Certification will be accepted.
