The Monitor Technician functions under the direction of the professional nurse. Primary function is to monitor the telemetry status of each monitored patient and communicate dysrhythmias to the nursing staff. Must be able to work under stressful conditions and greet the public with a cheerful, positive attitude. Candidate must demonstrate willingness to assume other responsibilities as assigned. Candidate needs to be familiar with hospital policies and procedures. The Monitor technician will demonstrate knowledge appropriate to the age of the patient served. Demonstration of knowledge will include principles of growth and development and interpretation of information and data to identify the patient's age-specific needs.
Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.
Education: - High School Graduate or GED certificate
Experience / Abilities: - Minimum of one year experience with clerical duties preferred. Good computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Physical/emotion stamina - EMT equivalent acute care, clinical experience preferred
Certifications / Licenses: - EMT Certification - Will provide a basic dysrhythmia course; successful completion of this course is required. Must pass EKG and Rhythm Course and complete competencies within 6 months of hire.
Current CPR certification.
