Under the supervision of the
Charge Nurse and / or Department Manager, the Monitor Tech. monitors
all patients on Telemetry. Projects a good public image. Functions as
a member of the health team in the role of department receptionist,
insofar as s/he answers telephones and interacts with staff and
physicians. Is a self-motivating individual, and maintains a
courteous and professional attitude.
A. Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year prior
Monitor tech. experience in a health care setting preferred. Thorough
computer skills; proper telephone and interpersonal skills.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Medical terminology
course preferred. Basic dysrhythmia class preferred. Computer
C. License, Certification, or Registration
required: Current CPR card.
D. Language Skills: Ability to
sufficiently read, speak and write English for communication and
charting purposes. Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively
present information and respond to questions from groups of managers,
patients, and the general public.
E. Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply, measure and understand the concept of electrical
impulse timing, and the use of the appropriate tools.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to work under
supervision and to follow instructions. Pleasant telephone manners.
Neat and legible handwriting.
