Monitors telemetry patients for cardiac arrhythmia and notifies nurse of changes.
High school diploma or GED required.
Certification as an EKG technician or successful completion of a telemetry program from another facility or Patient Care Technician with EKG certification required.
Previous experience as a monitor technician preferred but not required.
Continuously monitors arrhythmias and notifies staff of changes.
Accurately documents rhythm strips according to unit specifications.
Accurately measures and interprets cardiac rhythms.
Enters patient information and data into the telemetry/computer system.
Has access to minimal risk medications contained in kits, trays or packs associated with certain procedures, as well as IV fluids stored in patient care areas and automated dispensing units.
Performs miscellaneous and other related duties as assigned.
