UPMC McKeesport is hiring a Part-Time Monitor Technician to help support the MCK-Cardiac Central Monitoring Department for its UPMC McKeesport location.
Continuously observe cardiac monitors.
Obtain and translate rhythm strips at the beginning of each shift and as needed.
Apply/reapply monitor leads to patient appropriately.
Apply EKG interpretation skills to clinical practice.
Accurately obtain and transmit 12 lead EKG.
Continually review and revise rhythm classes in the cardiac monitoring system.
Accurately record all observations, assessments and interventions in the patient's medical record.
Inform RN of important information concerning patient's cardiac rhythm.
Initiate rescue breathing and activate Code 333 or Condition C per hospital policy.
Troubleshoot monitors (i.e., alarms, replacing batteries, recording paper and electrodes).
Conduct daily defibrillator checks.
Develop ability to use patient tracking system.
Identify and respond to customer needs.
Respond quickly and appropriately to requests for service.
Treat customers with care, courtesy, and respect.
Promote quality by monitoring work processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and promoting safe environment.
Assist with answering the telephone cordially and politely; identifying self and department.
Assist with transfer of patient on and off wheeled equipment.
Assist with chart maintenance.
Assist with recording of vital signs on patient's record.
Participate in Quality Improvement Process as assigned.
Accept responsibilities of other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED required.
EMT or previous monitoring experience preferred.
Completion of Basic Arrhythmia Class.
