Chevron Shipping Company is accepting online applications for the position of Mooring Master located in El Segundo, CA through March 25, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
These positions will initially be located in El Segundo, California, reporting to the Western Region Operations Manager. However, there may be a requirement in the future to work in other locations globally. Mooring Masters are members of a multi-functional team operating within Marine Transportation and Terminal Operational Excellence services responsible for supporting ongoing facilities, projects and initiatives to meet safe, reliable and efficient operations. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
HES - Proactively leads, ensures and reinforces health, environmental and safety standards and requirements in support of Operational Excellence in all aspects of marine operations.
Mooring of vessels at different berth types including CBMs, SPMs and jetties.
Advise vessel Master(s) of the critical phases of the cargo transfer, mooring and unmooring operations.
Ensure that cargo transfer, mooring and unmooring operations are conducted in accordance with the required operating procedures.
Supervise all contracted service providers during the mooring, cargo transfer and terminal operation.
Supervise connection and disconnection of cargo hoses.
Act as terminal representative on board to co-ordinate all cargo operations.
Be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of cargo handling onboard tankers and ensure that the vessel complies with safe operating practices, terminal regulations and Operational Excellence.
Responsible for monitoring the berth and weather conditions to ensure that operations are discontinued before onset of deteriorating weather conditions and to ensure vessel maintains at all times in a safe condition.
Responsible for vessel feedback to CSC Marine Assurance in order to ensure non-conformities are captured and conveyed.
Office attendance is required to support our global partners on marine terminal & offshore operational issues.
Must possess a valid unlimited tonnage USCG Masters License and have served in a senior capacity on board ocean going oil tankers.
Possess a tankerman PIC endorsement.
Preferred previous ship handling experience in the capacity of either a Mooring Master and/or Pilot.
Experience in report writing and project support is an advantage.
Relocation package will not be considered as this job is a rotational assignment.
