Susquehanna Bank has an excellent opportunity for a Mortgage Underwriter. In this important role you will be responsible to ensure the quality of purchase money and refinance residential mortgage applications by analyzing, underwriting and approving/denying applications according to credit standards of the Corporation, secondary market and private investors. This position is also responsible for analyzing appraisals in accordance with acceptable appraisal practices to determine sufficiency of collateral; recognize and analyze risk potential of loan applications; and determine relevance of any factors to mitigate risk.
Top candidates will possess the following:
High School Graduate or General Education Diploma (GED)
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in residential lending/credit with overall experience of 5 or more years in Banking or the equivalent in other related experiences
Minimum of two years of experience with appraisal analysis, FHA/VA/FNMA/FHLMC guidelines and self-employed borrower income tax analysis, including one year of direct work experience in mortgage loan origination in processing, underwriting, closing and/or shipping
Direct Endorsement designation with HUD/FHA/VA
Postion requires a thorough understanding of mortgage products and regulations
Ability to work independently
Good mathematical and analytical skills
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
