The Mud Logger assists in acquiring well data during wellsite operations for the exploitation of hydrocarbons. Activities include recording information derived from examination and analysis of formation cuttings made by the bit and of mud circulated out of the borehole, monitoring the well parameters, and maintaining sensors and gas equipment.
This position supports the work of the Data Engineer and the Unit Manager assigned to the wellsite.
Carries out or supervises the collection, processing, and description of cutting samples and core.
Examines cuttings and core for hydrocarbon shows and reports findings per customer specifications.
Collects and enters the rig and well data, reporting information that helps maintain primary well control and general well integrity during wellsite operations; completes the volume balance sheet when tripping and alerts the Data Engineer of discrepancies.
Performs basic maintenance for sensors and gas equipment.
Ensures the master mud log design meets customer specifications.
Regularly updates mud logs so that all information is available for Final Well Report.
Completes section of End of Well Report dealing with the sample collection, dispatch, and lithological description.
Technical or university degree in geology, engineering, or applied science.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mud Logger.
Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility for own actions.
Ability to work precisely according to procedures, rules, and regulations.
Fluency in Portuguese language and advanced competency in English language, with good verbal and written communication skills.
