OVERALL OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE

The Multicultural Outreach Specialist is responsible for working with all members of the company’s Public Affairs and Public Relations team to assure that outreach and public relations strategies are driven through multicultural channels to enlarge the company’s stakeholder base, to enhance its brand and to support causes-related marketing for specialty tickets. The Multicultural Outreach Specialist must develop and implement a culturally diverse approach to all aspects of stakeholder engagement to assure a seamless integration of public affairs and public relations strategies on behalf of the Illinois Lottery.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with all Public Relations staff to assure culturally sensitive and accurate translation and dissemination of news and information pertaining to Illinois Lottery and Northstar

Cultivation of multicultural relationships, causes and affiliations which the Illinois Lottery and Northstar may support

Acting as Spanish language spokesperson for Illinois lottery and Northstar

Assisting in translation and press release development for Winner Awareness efforts

Coordinating with consultants on accurate translation and dissemination of Illinois State Lottery information into multiple languages

Develop multicultural contacts by region for community outreach efforts

Working with Public Affairs team to provide administrative support for stakeholder engagement efforts

Prepare briefings on multicultural events and activities to be attended by CEO and company senior leadership

Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION
Minimum education

Bachelor College Communications, Business, or similar degree required

†Years Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience in public affairs coordination and community outreach in Illinois

† OTHER SKILLS

Fluency in conversational and written Spanish required; other languages desired

Strongevent management and organizations skills

Highly organized with great attention to detail

Coordinate flawlessly with public relations, sales and marketing teams

Ability to balance and execute multiple tasks with equal proficiency

Be a proactive individual with strong planning skills and a unique ability to maximize efforts with limited resources

Self-starter who works well and independently in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional project management skills

Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills

Strong research skills

Knowledge and understanding of technology, new consumer trends, and the latest in social media innovation

Ability to interact and collaborate with colleagues from all levels of the organization

Must thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Ability to communicate courteously and work effectively with the public of all ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds

Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with the public and staff

Analytical skills to identify needs, demand, and resources
