At GE Power & Water, the NC Programmer will provide programming support for Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine tools, and/or Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM's).

Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will:

  • Generate new CNC part Programs, and maintain / optimize / modify existing CNC part programs
  • Provide CNC related support to M.E. (Manufacturing Engineer) and provide operator training during new / rebuilt machine startup and / or process improvements
  • Provide daily operator support in the form of CNC programming and troubleshooting support to the shop floor
  • Support and implement tooling & fixturing requirements associated with CNC machine tools
  • Generate and support workstation instructions (methods) for CNC related issues
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve safety, quality, cost and delivery
  • Provide leadership experience in the implementation and expansion of CAM technology
  • Lead professional will provide direction for less experienced CAM Specialists

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 2 additional years of professional work experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing with CNC / computer assisted programming using graphics based system

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    Desired Characteristics
  • Strong knowledge of 3D modeling
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with high-level machine tool controls including sub-routine (macro), probing and variable based programming, also CLM (closed loop machining)
  • Minimum of 1 year Heavy Metal component turning and or milling experience
  • Exposure to general machine shop equipment and good knowledge of cutting tool application
  • Exposure to Fanuc Macro Executor, Picture, and NC Guide Pro
  • CAM Experience with Unigraphics NX 7.5
  • Working knowledge of CMM programming, using languages such as PCDMIS, or other appropriate CMM skills
  • Prior experience with program verification tools such as Vericut
  • Exposure to post-processor development and debugging, preferably UG Post Builder
  • Strong knowledge of feeds, speeds, cutting tool application
  • Strong GD&T knowledge (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances)
  • Knowledge of fixture specifications, design and part clamping systems
  • Ability to effectively contribute and be engaged in a team based environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong problem solving and organization skills, with above average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry
  • Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office applications, and any MES (Manufacturing execution system)
  • Self-motivated and self-driven proven project leadership
  • High level of precision and logical thinking
  • Ability to accept new challenges, take ownership, and make decisions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
