Duties and Responsibilities
a. Provide surveillance of network using all applicable NOC Network and Systems Management Tools.
b. Troubleshoot, evaluate, track, and manage network problems and recommend the best solutions while escalation to higher tiers according to NOC procedures.
c. Facilitate and coordinate the flow of communications between the NOC and internal Shentel groups, as well as external vendors and third party ISP partners.
d. Work independently with limited supervision while providing clear, documented activities to include customer or technical issues.
e. Initiate customer communications when appropriate.
f. Perform handover functions to incoming shift team members/management.
g. Responsible for following, supporting, and enforcing all internal control processes and procedures.
a. High School diploma required; advanced technical degrees preferred.
b. Previous Network/NOC experience preferred.
c. Must be able to resolve issues through resolution.
d. Must be able to work in a 365 day operation with non-standard work shifts.
e. Applicant must have effective oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to organize and prioritize work.
f. Basic level ability with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
a. Telephony and IP systems based on various transport protocols, copper, fiber, TDM, SONET, metro Ethernet and wireless.
b. Basic network troubleshooting skills including but not limited to ping and traceroute.
c. Basic understanding of LAN/WAN networks.
d. Cisco IOS configuration experience preferred.
e. Working knowledge of OSI model.
