MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist plus three years of professional level experience in nuclear medicine technology, two years of which must have been at the experienced level or above.

All new hires of Interim LSU Public Hospital including transfers from other agencies with permanent status , may have to serve a probationary period of no less than twelve months.

To supervise staff involved in administering radioactive drugs for the treatment and diagnosis of disease in humans, or to direct an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Differs from Nuclear Medicine Technologist 2 by the presence of direct-line supervision over two (2) or more Nuclear Medicine Technologists, and/or by responsibility for the clinical management and scheduling of the Department.

Differs from Nuclear Medicine Technologist Manager by the absence of managerial responsibility for the Nuclear Medicine unit, to include the supervision of one (1) or more Nuclear Medicine Technologist Supervisors.

Examples of Work:
Manages patient evaluations through the supervision and scheduling of all department personnel.

Performs the more complex nuclear medicine examinations.

Orders and maintains inventory of supplies and film.

Maintains fire and safety statistics for the department and instructs personnel in procedures.

Makes recommendations for manual of operation and guidelines for department, as well equipment purchases and maintenance.

Provides in-service education and prepares clinical teaching programs for staff and students.

Provides evaluation of film and equipment.

Submits and administers the education budget.

Outlines course curriculum for School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
