NURSING FLOAT POOL Float Pool staff and SWAT nurses are trained to work in a variety of patient care units across the hospital including Med Surg, Maternity, Telemetry, Critical Care, ER, SAU/PACU, Diagnostic Imaging and Outpatient Infusion Therapy

Primary Function & Major Responsibilities As a member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients.Demonstrates commitment to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the HealthEast Nursing Vision.Supports the nursing process to achieve outcome focused patient care.Communicates effectively with patient/family, physicians, the interdependent team and other disciplines regarding the care of the patient.Complies with regulatory requirements, patient safety requirements, infection control practices, and other established practice standards, policies. and proceduresParticipates in the development and achievement of unit goals (i.e. safety, cost, quality, satisfaction, and engagement).Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all customers (i.e. patients, families, and physicians).


High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of accredited medical or nursing assistant program or equivalent experienceAt Bethesda Hospital, must be on the Nursing Assistant Registry at the time of hire. Current Basic Life Support certification. Current BLS endorsed by the AHA (Healthcare Provider) required.

One year experience in a health care setting preferred. Current BLS endorsed by the AHA required.Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge to provide patient care within the scope of practice.Ability to effectively document and communicate the patient care provided.Interpersonal and communication skills.Is competent to perform skills outlined on the competency checklist including population specific and age related knowledge.Regular/Temporary
