National Sales Manager

SUMMARY
Manages sales activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Experience selling non-tangible services such as advertising would be ideal work experience for this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the President and/or the CEO.

Conducts interviews for new sales representatives.

Develops and implements strategic sales plans consistent with corporate sales goals.

Develops a sales associate pipeline for all territories.

Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.

Plans and implements annual Regional / National Sales Meeting.

Develops performance evaluations for all direct reports.

Establishes and monitors representatives territories, forecasts and goals.

Provides coaching support as needed.

Advises dealers, distributors, and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques.

Terminates sales associates for cause as needed.

Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assist dealers in promoting sales.

Represents Company at trade association meetings and trade shows to promote company advertising services.

Coordinates and delivers sales presentations to key clients with sales representatives and/or other team members.

Meets with key clients, assisting sales representatives with negotiating issue discovery and developing long term, successful business and personal relationships.

Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees for their corresponding publications. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common trade and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
