Provide secondary network and system support for the University.

- Perform install and upgrade of Windows server OS, VMware ESXi systems,
and *nix systems.
- Analyze, diagnose, verify and solve Windows & VMware hardware problems and work with vendor technical support groups.
- Perform system management including but not limited to: user accounts, email systems, file systems, disk management, performance, system backup and restore procedures.
- Perform integration support of peripheral equipment (e.g. printers, scanners, efax, POS , Print Tracking, ID Cards), with applications around the University.
- Create and Maintain system documentation for applications and hardware that are managed.
- Install 3rd party applications, databases and system utility software.
- Support Google Apps, ListServe, IIS , CommVault, Citrix XenApp and XenDestkop, Blackboard TS, SQL , MSSQL , SMS databases and support for ShoreTel VoIP system.
- Support SAN & Cisco UCS environment.
- Perform network management including but not limited to: Cisco wired network support, DHCP and DNS server support, wireless network support, etc.
- Analyze, diagnose, verify and solve system software and hardware problems, work with vendor technical support.
- Participate in guidance and execution of large multi-month/year projects working in conjunction with Network and Systems Administrators.
- Maintain system documentation.
- Provide Tier Three Helpdesk support and problem resolution (systems and network issues.)
- Work on-call shifts on a rotational schedule to provide after-hours support for users and the university.
- Answer client’s inquiries in person and via telephone concerning systems operation. Diagnose system hardware, software and operator problems. Recommend or perform remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of systems operation.
- Other related duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or 5 years of equivalent working experience in a network administration and/or system administration position.
- Proficiency with general server hardware and software.
- Ability to communicate and exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the PLNU community.
- Ability to complete routine tasks, manage time and projects independently.
- Demonstrated ability to use administrative software tools and adapt quickly to new software applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as PowerShell, .Net or basic scripting is desirable.
- Working knowledge of VMware ESXi and Windows operating systems
- Working knowledge of VDI (VMware, Citrix, HyperV) – preferably
- Knowledge of SANS and DLT Backup Tape Libraries.
- Knowledge of Cisco UCS Blade system – preferably.
- Knowledge of current information advancements, concepts and methodology.
- Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of Point Loma Nazarene University.
- Ability to work independently in an environment that is frequently chaotic and often under time pressures.
- Ability to communicate and exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the PLNU community.
- Working knowledge of network equipment – preferably Cisco equipment
- Working knowledge of wireless equipment – preferably Aruba Network equipment.

Physical Demands (if applicable):
Sitting for periods greater than one hour. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
