Overall Description:
Reporting to the Manager Admin IT, the System & Network Administrator will monitor and implement changes to the Operations and Admin MPLS network. He/She will support the hardware and application which are used to host the Admin and Control IT functions provided by the IT Services group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As a representative of Brookfield, aid in ensuring that company personnel, contractors and consultants are following company approved safety policies and procedures, and that company property is protected.

Primary role is to lead the IT Services team in administration and configurations of IT Services systems:

Ensure timely user notification of scheduled maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.

Designing and supporting active directory, patch management, antivirus, VM protocols and network monitoring systems.

Support the blade center, NetApp and Exchange environments.

Secondary role is to support the IT Services team in monitoring and optimization of the MPLS network:

Administration and configuration of the VM environment

Participate in the daily operation and maintenance of the company’s application server environment, network and telecom infrastructure.

PBX, Voice Mail, and Audio Recorders

General network administration duties in a Microsoft Server environment

LAN/WAN deployment, engineering, troubleshooting, performance optimization and administration in a quickly-evolving network topology.

Use monitoring and diagnostic tools to anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.

Provide support to contracted companies in regards to CISCO Unified Communication

Establish and perform network device maintenance following company and vendor standards.

Create, maintain and update documentation of the networking and application infrastructure.

Participate in cross-training and development exercises with other IT Services personnel to ensure sustainable backup support for the IT Services platform is available.

Develop and train other IT services staff designated by the manager to support the VM environment, network systems and other Admin IT systems.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as a liaison between the IT Services team and the Regional or Corporate IT staff to identify and address telecommunications, and system issues in the region.

Travel Requirements: Must possess valid driver’s license, passport and be willing and able to travel to/from work sites as necessary with limited advance notice and work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays and nights. Must also be able to travel to and stay at satellite operations.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, eight (8) hour days, may be required to support application updates or maintenance during the scheduled IT maintenance periods.

Physical Environment: The majority of the work will occur in an office environment (indoors, controlled temperature, multi-level office buildings). Occasional exposure to moving/mechanical parts, extreme or inclement outdoor climates, enclosed or underground areas, or noise levels and atmosphere consistent with industrial environments during field site visits.

Physical demands: Perform work at a computer console for extended periods of time, climb stairs, possess normal peripheral vision and depth perception. Will involve use of hands, fingers, ability to feel objects, tools or controls, ability to sit, stand, reach, balance, ability to communicate (written and spoken word), ability to see within normal parameters, ability to hear within normal range, ability to move about.

Equipment Used includes: Telephone, calculator, personal data assistant, cell-phone, computer, printer, copier, fax machine, related safety equipment, motor vehicle.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field. Equivalent experience or education will be considered

At least 2 years experience with supporting a Admin IT systems

Knowledge in Active Directory administration including group policies, DFS and WAN replication

Knowledge of WAN topologies, telecommunications products, and protocols

Working knowledge of services such as DNS, WINS, FTP,

Experience with network monitoring, configuration and troubleshooting tools

Experience in server configuration and deployment in a VMWare environment

Experience in deploying and managing switches and routers at the core and departmental levels

Experience with WAN accelerators, traffic-shaping & optimizers such as Netscaler & Riverbeds product family

Good understanding of communications technologies such as serial circuits, frame relay and MPLS

Responsibility Level / Decision Making Influence : Following direction of management to deploy, configure and monitor network resources supporting business applications and networks. This role is part of the IT Services group which has responsibility for the support of the NSCC SCADA, Control and Admin IT networks and systems.

Result of Error: Employee and public safety, environmental priorities, revenue generation, regulatory compliance and corporate image could be compromised due to errors in judgment.

Budget Responsibility: Required to assist IT managers in the development and implementation of annual OMA and Capex budgets.
