Under the general supervision of the Manager of Infrastructure, Operations and Support, the Network Administrator will be expected to:
-Participate in network design and capacity planning.
-Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures and associated plans for network administration, use and disaster recovery.
-Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure and service.
-Interact with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure network products and services.
-Conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
-Manage network infrastructure devices including routers, switches, firewalls and their associated operating systems and software.
-Ensure network connectivity to all end points.
-Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
-Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications.
-Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions and access rights.
-Perform system backups and recovery.
-Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
-Recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs.
-Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field required.
-3 years' experience as a Network Administrator (or similar role) within an enterprise IT environment (e.g., 3500+ end users, 500+ infrastructure nodes, geographically separated locations, etc.) required.
-One or more industry recognized IT certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCDA, ITIL Foundations, Network+, etc.) required.
-Hands on experience administering and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper or Force10 network infrastructure devices required.
-Working knowledge of telecommunications and data networking theory required.
-Current SSBI is required.
-US Citizenship is required.
-Previous experience administering network infrastructure devices in a secure environment (e.g., SIPRNET, CWAN, etc.) desired.
-Working knowledge of network management software (e.g., CiscoWorks, Solarwinds, etc.) desired.
-Working knowledge of telecommunications protocols and services (e.g., DWDM, T carriers, OC carriers, SONET, MPLS, etc.) desired.
-Hands on experience administering IP based telephony systems desired.
