Network Administrator, San Fransico, CA

SUMMARY:
The Network Administrator participates in the implementation and engineering projects for the enterprise network involving the extension and application of engineering and networking principles and concepts.

Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience with a broad range of networking technologies, network security, firewalls, VPN, Intrusion detection, LAN, WAN, connectivity as well as the implementation and management of Cisco Unified Communications Manager. This person will be responsible for providing analysis of networks, planning and network layouts and configuring systems to the environment. Additionally, this role will be responsible for problem diagnosis, repair and maintenance of full range of communications equipment encompassing analog and digital technologies. Provide support services for all Unified Communication voice and LAN/WAN network including CSU/DSU and other related IP and voice peripherals and instruments. Administration and troubleshooting of Cisco Call Manager, Unity, Unity Connections, Voice Gateways, VoIP phones, Routing and Switching.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Network Strategy and Planning:
Collaborate with peers and infrastructure management to address all network capacity needs.

Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network diagrams, processes, and service records.

Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.

Manage network vendors and resellers. Review of invoices and deliverables for accuracy.

Network Acquisition & Deployment:
Deployment of LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.

Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.

Network Operational Management:
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.

Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.

Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

Telephony Skills:
Experience with telephony systems and communications servers relating to Voice over IP and unified messaging including Cisco Unified Communications System and Call Manager.

Experience with phone switch (POE) management.

Familiarity with Move Add Change work and administration of telephony applications.

Monitoring and Security:
Experience with monitoring systems for network, server, security, bandwidth, latency and call quality.

Extensive experience with VPN, firewalls (hardware and software), and other network security systems.

Management of software packages for monitoring network uptime.

Experience and understanding of special needs in a regulated or compliance environment governed with high security requirements is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS:
10 years of network and voice support experience.

BS/BA degree preferably in the computer science or similar discipline or comparable work experience.

Must have experience implementing network management and monitoring solutions.

Strong knowledge of Cisco voice solutions. (Call Manger 6/7/8.x, Unity, Unity Connections 8/9x)

Strong experience in Cisco Routing, Switching, Data Networking Skills.

Strong knowledge of WAN optimization technologies Riverbed knowledge a plus.

Strong experience with TCP/IP protocol, IP addressing. (DHCP, NAT, etc)

Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS, ASA, ISR, ACL, Proxy.

Working knowledge of HSRP, EIGRP, BGP4, RIP and OSPF routing protocol with minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience preferred.

Clear understanding of the concepts behind Internet services and protocols such as HTTP, SMTP and DNS.

Experience with Cisco Nexus Platform preferred.
Extensive experience in Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching. (STP, VTP, EtherChannel, LACP)

Base firewall and intrusion detection skills a plus.

Strong knowledge to read network packet capture using TCPDUMP, Ethereal or Wire Shark.

Strong experience with working with Cisco TAC.

Experience with server room build out and Low voltage implementation a plus

Knowledge of A/V setup a plus.

Cisco certification is a plus.

Experience with window server administration preferred.

Communication/Organizational Skills

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be able to accurately document network changes, states and tasks. Ability to create analysis documents, instruction sheets and system documentation for all network systems.

Ability to prioritize and drive results with a high emphasis on quality.

Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects.

Must be detailed oriented and be able to meet deadlines.

Prior experience working in an enterprise IT environment.

Travel Requirements

Travel requirement: Up to 10% domestically in the US, subject to change.
