The Network Architect is responsible for the Design, implementation, integrity and day to day management of all company networking technology including voice and data. The Network Architect is also responsible for designing computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), intranets, Storage Area Networks (SAN) and other data communications systems. Ensures that the reliability, security, integrity and performance of the company network meets established best practices and company defined policies. Ensures a proper backup/disaster recovery plan is in place for network emergencies. Provide reports to IT management regarding network system performance, utilization and capacity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Network Architect’s responsibilities include the long term planning and facilitation of network installations of voice and data equipment in the Enterprise. This position requires experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a timely manner as set forth by the business needs of the company. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Provides expertise and team leadership in the areas of network design, troubleshooting, performance management, support and documentation of standards and procedures for the administration of all supported environments.
Establishes budgetary requirements for equipment replacement.
Establishes and controls systems access and security.
Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software and telecommunications
Develops or establishes strong relationships with service providers.
Maintains appropriate and advantageous vendor relationships.
Develops service contracts with national and local service providers as needed.
Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software and telecommunications services.
Develops, maintains and tests disaster recovery plans.
Monitors and maintains network stability, collects and analyzes network capacity and performance information.
This job may require up to 25% travel with short notice.
Supervisory Responsibilities – three direct reports
Education and Experience: Four year degree in a technical field is required along with completed CCNA and CCNP certifications (or equivalent experience). 10 years in the Information Technology field performing increasingly complex tasks plus a minimum of 7 years of experience performing Network Engineer duties and implementing new IS directives is required. Ability to complete projects on time including the necessary documentation is a must.
