Monitor and manage DoD classified and non-classified Internet Protocol (IP) networks using various network management tools. Prepare documentation of program-level and user-level information operational and technical. Perform fault isolation conduct diagnostics and effect corrective actions as the technical expert for those DoD classified and non-classified IP networks. Assist other NOCs outside agencies and customers isolate problems within their domains that negatively impact the core IP infrastructure and customer service. Assist engineering with accurate documentation and optimum performance especially with new systems. Evaluate new systems and equipment and develop standard procedures for streamlining troubleshooting and managing those systems. Maintain logs and records. Conduct training of new employees standard procedures and incorporate lessons learned into those procedures. Assist the Network Operations Center (NOC) manager with candidate interviews and make recommendations for hiring technicians. Analyze status and provide briefings to management. Obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform expert fault isolations and diagnostics to execute corrective actions on core DoD network systems
  • Lead cooperative efforts with end users functional users commercial service providers adjacent and remote network operation centers (NOC) and vendors to optimize or restore services and optimize core infrastructure
  • Provide functional guidance technical support training and quality management to NOC personnel
  • Work with NOC team to ensure routine and reactive monitor and control of core and customer systems
  • Review and analyze logs and records to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in system performance training operational procedures within and external to the NOC
  • Coordinate with configuration management and implementations to ensure optimum information dissemination accuracy and availability
  • Take charge of chronic problems and aggressively work to resolve them as the escalation point for the most complex troubles
  • Work with shift personnel to introduce new procedures lessons learned new equipment and unique systems
  • Assist with test and integration of new test equipment systems and monitor and control capabilities
  • Work with the Government and vendors to recommend improvements and new capabilities in existing equipment

Education and Experience
  • 5-years DoD network experience
  • 10 years related NOC experience supporting Internet Protocol and transport systems
  • Working knowledge of NET Promina; CISCO Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP); CIENA Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Systems; SYCAMORE optical switching systems; other transport SONET and IP systems; and their monitor and control functionality.
  • Experience working with networking software and hardware control systems
  • Familiarity with Task Management System (TMS) Remedy
  • BS in Computer Science Engineering or mathematics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
