Specific Job Description:

Candidate is familiar performing within a fixed price, performance-based environment where performance is based on pre-determined Service Level Agreement’s (SLA’s) or Acceptable Levels of Performance (ALP’s). Candidate is required to support the development, documentation and tracking of measurements and metrics relevant to the ALP’s. Member of the network team supporting DISA GSM-O program. Interfaces with Government counterparts, both CONUS and OCONUS, as well as other LM and subcontractor team members. Support complex network features and configurations, provide ongoing troubleshooting, recover from network outages and/or quality performance problems. Manage complex problems and assure service levels are achieved and operational targets are reached. Respond, troubleshoot, replace and repair data communication equipment and cabling as needed to maintain connectivity. Monitor and report network alarms, service degradation, or loss of service. Provide 24X7 network support to allow for problem resolution and network operation. Must maintain a customer-centric focus to ensure that quality customer service and support is the top priority. Responsible for the network components used on the program with specific responsibilities including but not limited to:
1) Evaluate system network requirements and make appropriate technical recommendations.
2) Support alarm surveillance, fault management, configuration management, LAN maintenance, performance management
3) Assist IA personnel regarding network security and SSP maintenance. Ensure that the network configuration meets all IA requirements.
4) Support/maintain/administer program networks and servers
5) Perform day to day network operations support of GIG services/networks
6) Monitor network performance
7) Support deployments as required.

Standard Job Description:

Serves as technical specialist responsible for the monitoring, operating and managing, troubleshooting and restoring to service any of the components comprising the DISN or DRSN networks. These include data/voice communications equipment, multiplexers (such as modems, circuit switching units, data switching units, secure telephone switches and PBX’s), data terminal equipment, (such as front-end processors, routers, 3270/SNA devices) and transmission media (such as coaxial and twisted pair cables, satellite, microwave, and fiber optics both vendor-provided and government owned). Performs pro-active monitoring of network elements alarms and alerts to identify those components/elements that may lead to or already are causing network degradation or failure. Accomplishes this through use of network management system(s) and associated assets on a continuous (rotating shifts) basis. Performs fault isolation and diagnostic/assessment functions to include determination and execution of corrective action(s) on real-time basis. Interfaces with functional users as well as remote operations centers in both routine and reactive monitoring situations. Maintains logs and records associated with reported problems or situations. Executes all reporting functions and data input associated with network management. Monitors security posture of network(s); reports suspected violations to designated authority. Coordinates with configuration management and implementation entities to ensure optimum dissemination of information and network efficiency. Performs operator level maintenance on all components/assets associated with network management systems. Provides functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training and quality assurance/quality control to Associate personnel.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 0 years of professional experience;
