Scope of Initiative The scope of the initiative is the physical and logical separation of our Clients network systems and storage in two Global Data Centers located in Houston TX and Austin TX The Initiative will run through MayJune 2013 with the bulk of activities occurring during scheduled weekends to minimize service impacts to the business All environments will be physically and logically separated across the four (4) rack cabinets The end result will be a showcase Data Center with environments clearly labeled on the front of the cabinet and all unused cabinet space to be filled with blank platesPlanned Approach Multiple Data Center outage events will be experienced to complete the initiative goals Network Engineer Summary The Network Engineer will be responsible for the execution of tasks associated with our Global Data Center Repositioning Initiatives The scope of the initiative is the physical and logical separation of our network systems and storage in our two Global Data Centers located in Houston TX and Austin TX The Initiative will run through MayJune 2013 with the bulk of activities occurring during scheduled weekends in April and May to minimize service impacts to the business The overall technical operations of the enterprise systems consist of Microsoft based servers various storage infrastructures and Cisco networking equipment The Network Engineer will be responsible for the physical installation and relocation of Top of Rack (TOR) switches within each Data Center following preestablished plans He will be responsible for ensuring all network services are restored to normal operating mode upon the completion of physical relocation as well as the introduction of a physically separate iSCSI network Once physical relocation is complete he will be responsible for executing the logical separation of networks for the compute environments following preestablished plans and configuration standards The logical separation consists of supporting the Systems Engineering staff and ensuring proper network communications and traffic (connectivity VLANs jumbo frames etc) before during and after all logical compute environment separation activities Responsibilities include troubleshooting recovery resolving errors and failures and resource utilization Requirements Advanced knowledge of integrated enterprise wide business systems Expert OSPF BGP Cisco IOS Cisco switches and firewalls experience Expert LAN and WAN design and implementation experience Advanced network capacity planning network security principles and general network management best practices Significant experience designing and implementing networks in support of SAN (ie configuring troubleshooting and turning iSCSI network segment) Strong communication and attention to detail Shifts FriSun Day 12hrday (36 hrs) + FriSun Night 12hrday (36 hrs) Please specify your choice of location and shift (HoustonTX or Austin TX day or night) (TOR) switches,Expert OSPF, BGP, Cisco IOS, Cisco switches, and firewalls, SAN (i.e., configuring, troubleshooting, and turning iSCSI network segment)
