Tekelec, a leading provider of 4G/LTE communication equipment, is seeking a Network Engineer 1 at their Morrisville, NC location.
The Network Engineer candidate will be part of a team responsible for developing and evaluating networking solutions for Tekelec products. The candidate will be involved with design planning, development and unit tests, including associated documentation at each of these phases. The candidate must be familiar with Linux administration and layer 1 through layer 4 networking. The candidate should be familiar with Perl and Python programming for the purpose of automating configuration and test. Candidate assignments include, but are not limited to, network switch vendor evaluation, network integration analysis, technical reference documentation, network feature verification, test plan development and execution, and automated configuration and test development.
The candidate must have:
strong knowledge in network behavior, such as ARP, ICMP, VLANs, spanning-tree and routing protocols
strong knowledge of the OSI network reference model
familiarity with Linux system administration, such as OS installation and network interface configuration
knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6
The candidate should have:
knowledge of Perl and/or Python programming
knowledge of Cisco IOS

Flexibility in work schedule and the ability to work overtime on short notice may be necessary. The candidate is expected to be self-directed, and be able to work on individual and team assignments.
Summary of Qualifications
Requires a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
0-3 years of industry experience
Must possess strong organizational skills, strong customer service orientation with attention to detail.
Must be skilled with the use of Microsoft Office products.
