Reporting to the Director of Network Engineering, this Network Engineer II role is required to manage and support the IP Network and corporate products and services of iCore and it’s customers.
The position requires an individual with engineering experience working with IP technologies in a service provider environment. Operational knowledge of IP routing protocols BGP and OSPF from both a technical and administrative perspective is mandatory for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design, configuration, and deployment of customer solutions.
Handle support escalations and provide training and guidance to other teams.
Manage and develop iCore’s customer’s networks.
Provide pre/post sales technical support.
Produce high quality documentation for customer’s networks.
Carry out network maintenance to improve iCore’s core network and customer networks.
Work with vendors to troubleshoot network issues.
Work to develop proof of concepts for iCore and Customer Requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
4+ years experience working for a Service Provider in an engineering or operations capacity.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience. CCNP certification preferred.
Ability to communicate highly technical information in a clear, concise and effective manner both internally and to iCore customers.
A good understanding, and operational experience with the following protocols and technologies is a requirement.
IP routing protocols including BGP and OSPF.
Router redundancy protocols including HSRP and VRRP and IP SLA.
Ethernet protocols including Spanning Tree and 802.1Q
Access Control, Network Address Translation, Quality of Service & Route Filtering.
Extensive experience with Cisco IOS and operating in a Linux/Unix environment.
Familiarity with MPLS and related technologies/protocols (LDP, RSVP, L3VPN).
Working Knowledge of Cisco ASA/PIX, VPN Concentrator and associated protocols (IPSEC /GRE).
Experience provisioning and troubleshooting Ethernet, T1, DS3, and SONET/SDH circuits.
