Specific Requirements : This Network Engineer position works closely with the Government customer and other teammates to identify and develop requirements for the future architectural vision of a major Government laboratory. Provides network engineering support for the lab’s network communication infrastructures. Integrates, maintains, and supports network services such as firewalls (virtual/physical), load balancers (virtual/physical), Domain Name System (DNS), etc. Monitors network services to ensure connectivity. Troubleshoots and resolves or facilitates the resolution of network connectivity and delivery services issues. Architects, designs, and implements enterprise and high speed networking environments using VMware, Cisco, storage products, and virtualization products, using industry proven best practices and solid engineering skills. Understands the features and limitations of the VMware software and storage products to develop networking requirements, and has the ability to deploy a highly optimized virtual computing environment to deliver Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions. Helps refine the future network architecture and suggests initiatives to help the customer realize its network architectural vision. Works with vendors to understand how their product lines fit into the current and future network architecture. Stays informed on current market trends and advises program management and customer.

Technical Skills : Candidates must have a very broad range of experience, with an advanced level of knowledge in the following areas: Information Technology (IT), networking, storage systems, virtualization (VMware) and associated best practices; Information Assurance (IA); Network Architecture and Design; Disaster Recovery/High Availability; Cloud Computing. Familiarity with Configuration Management, monitoring, automated testing, and Quality Assurance processes is a plus. Requires the ability to assess and judge the effect of technical decisions on the future success of projects/programs.
