Duties are performed in a highly customer focused organization, where the exercise of excellent customer service, teamwork and relationship management is paramount. Data center, office and field networking infrastructure knowledge are very important to the position. The ability to do most of the work remotely through local resources is essential to success. Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Network Engineer located in Houston, Texas through March 10, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
This position provides deployment and operational support for LAN, WAN, MAN, Wireless (WiFi), and IP Telephony technologies for the Canada Business Unit.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provide data network infrastructure coordination, engineering and project management services in alignment with the Design & Consulting team. Utilize established architectures and designs; and provide input/feedback on their practical use in the field.
Resolve data problems that are of a non-routine and unique nature
Follow standard change and configuration management processes when making changes
Work with BU partners, NOC, carriers, hardware vendors and other infrastructure teams on incident resolution
Provide input/feedback to and support the asset lifecycle management plan
Engage business unit partners to support their projects; including break-fix, configuration, coordination and implementation
Coordinate with and mentor the onsite analyst to ensure work is done following established processes and standards and that safety and reliability are top of mind at all times
5+ years in networking - using various LAN, WAN, security and Wi-Fi technologies and protocols
Strong hands-on knowledge of Cisco switches, routers, firewalls and IP Telephony; including relevant protocols. Knowledge of Juniper switches and routers is a strong plus.
Good working knowledge of Remedy, Voyence, TACACS or other SNMP-based tools is highly desirable
Active CCNA or CCNP certification, or equivalent is highly desirable
Relocation will not be considered.
