Under limited supervision, performs technical tasks to provide and maintain the City’s network
infrastructure, workstations, servers, and other computer-related equipment to allow users to
work efficiently through the use of computerized systems. Work involves designing, planning, and
implementing the infrastructure of the City’s Networks. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or a closely related area. Three to five years of experience working with networks and related operating systems; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Experience i nstalling, configuring and maintaining Microsoft Exchange 2007, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Active Directory, DHCP, Linux, VMware/ESX, VMware/VDI, OS/400, Veritas Netbackup, and EMC SAN. Administer and support the antivirus, email filtering, content management and antispyware. Maintaining the City’s IP address scheme. Supports, Configure and Maintain Backup servers, Veritas Netbackups, Tape Library and VMware. Reports to the Network Manager.
Requires Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Certification (MCSE) or equivalent experience. Additional
certifications: Network +, Microsoft Exchange 2007, Linux, VMware and EMC SAN preferred.
