Works in a team environment to conceptualize, design, implement, and support secure, high-available, stable, and modular networking topologies. Additionally, provides supporting policies, procedures, diagrams, and other documentation for new and current networking environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Tests and evaluates current and new network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements
Specifies, orders, receives, configures, and implements equipment
Interpret statistics and other gathered data to size current network and determine problem areas
Assist in designing, implementing, and supporting network management systems
Develop support documentation and procedures to be transferred to network support personnel
Works closely with junior-level network support personnel in training and technical knowledge
Interface with customers both internal and external to the company
Reviews and recommends network solutions based on capacity management and/ or forecasted growth
Review and remediate security findings
Education and Experience
BS in Computer Science or a Minimum of 5 years of networking experience supporting several hundred to thousands of end nodes (VPN tunnels, switches, routers)
Minimum of 2 years working with networking design
CCNA or equivalent certification
Candidate must have a strong work ethic and be a self-motivated, energetic, proactive, and organized.
Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP
Knowledge of dynamic routing protocols
Knowledge of LAN/WAN concepts and implementation
Knowledge of VLAN concepts and implementation
Knowledge of VPN concepts and implementation
Knowledge of firewall concepts and implementation
Experience with network security; such as, firewalls, IDS, IPS
Experience with the Cisco routers and firewalls
Experience with Network Management Systems
Experience with QoS
Experience with IPSec and SSL VPN environments
Experience with Network Analyzers
Experience with wireless networks
Cabling and wiring infrastructures
Video and IP Telephony.
