Network engineers design and plan network communications systems. Tasks include the following:
This hands-on technical position will work on LAN / WAN implementation and supporting issues in a complex tactical network environment. As part of the CNS Network Products team, this position will participate in all day-to-day activities and project goals in a Wireless, Internet Protocol (IP), and High Assurance IP Encryptor (HAIPE) based environment. Technical responsibilities include providing design, implementation & support of WLAN, LAN, WAN and VoIP telecommunications infrastructure for Mobile and Fixed Tactical Deployments. As a technical specialist, this position will be required to provide resolution guidance to the other SNC team members for advanced systems design, problem resolution and project management. Network/systems security will be a heavily emphasized set of responsibilities for this position, including but not limited to intrusion detection & digital rights management. Will help lead and actively participate in projects supporting network and telecommunications infrastructure implementations and enhancements. Determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications to provide a high level of security according to Computer and Network Certification and Accreditation (C&A) policies.
- Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
- Implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Conduct testing of network design.
- Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing; such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Support all corporate network services, maintaining C&A for security and reliability
Support strategy, plans and documentation for all network & telecommunications systems
Evaluate new networking solutions, providing recommendations for design and solution strategies
Design & manage network implementation projects in a dynamic fast paced environment
Provide support to all SNC Enterprise programs
Track and resolve requests for network related services and support, providing post mortem and root cause analysis
Flexible work hours required
Off-hours implementations and remote site travel a must
Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours
Other duties as assigned
Experience with Tactical Network Operations
Experience with Electronic Crypto Key Management (DTD, CYZ-10, SKL, KYK-13)
Experience with SATCOM Terminals
Cisco CCNA/CCNP training preferred
Linux Operating Systems experience preferred (commands, configuration, and management)
Hands-on expertise with a wide variety of network related tools, concepts, technologies, best practices and security procedures
Hands-on expertise with network hardware, protocols, and media including but not limited to 802.11, 802.16, VOIP, IOS, Mesh, 3G, 4G, LTE, Fiber Optics, Unshielded Twisted Pair, Radio Frequency (RF) Antenna Placement
Must be available to travel on a regular basis
